Private dental practice · Kempston, Bedford
Kateri Clinic is a Bedfordshire practice built around holistic dentistry. We treat the mouth as a pathway to the body, we do not place metal fillings, and every price we charge is published on this page.
Our approach
Holistic dentistry, also called biological dentistry, considers a patient's general health and wellbeing rather than the teeth and gums alone. In practice that shows up in five things, and you can hold us to all of them.
Materials are chosen with an eye on how they may affect your health as a whole, particularly where metal is concerned. We do not place amalgam fillings.
The aim is to keep you out of the chair for invasive work. That means regular examinations with a dentist and regular visits to the hygienist, not a rush to treat.
We put a lot of weight on explaining what we can see and why it matters, so you can take an active part in your own oral health rather than being talked at.
We allocate extra time. Appointments are for listening to your concerns and going through the options, not for processing you to a schedule.
How materials are sourced and what happens to them afterwards is part of the decision, not an afterthought.
A new patient examination is 30 minutes. A routine examination is about 20. Those are the real numbers, not a target we quietly miss.
Metal-free dentistry
No amalgam filling is placed at Kateri Clinic. Where a filling is needed we source the most biocompatible material we can for the job.
Removing an old amalgam filling is a different question from placing one, and it is done to a protocol rather than by eye. We follow SMART, the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique set out by the IAOMT, the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicity.
Safe amalgam removal is charged at £125 per appointment, on top of the cost of the replacement filling. If you are considering it, book an examination first and we will talk through whether it is the right call for you.
Treatments
Kateri Clinic is a private practice. Everything below is carried out here, in Kempston. Where a case needs a specialist, we say so and refer.
Thirty minutes, because we want time to examine the whole of your mouth rather than only the teeth, and to hear what you actually want. Includes two small x-rays unless you have had x-rays in the last twelve months.
About twenty minutes. Your dentist goes through your medical history and examines all your teeth. X-rays are not taken as a matter of routine, only where there is a justified clinical reason.
We keep the visit as relaxed as we can, so that children grow up with no reason to feel anxious about the dentist. X-rays only where they are needed for a diagnosis.
Regular hygienist appointments are the core of the preventive side of the practice, for adults and for children.
An estimated three in four UK adults have some gum disease. Caught early, we treat it with root surface debridement to reduce bacteria, followed by Biolase to support healing. Advanced cases are referred to a specialist.
One, two and three-surface fillings in biocompatible materials. Children's fillings are half the adult price.
Existing metal fillings removed following the IAOMT SMART protocol. Charged per appointment.
Zirconia crowns and bridges, and acrylic or flexible dentures, to restore your smile along with speaking and eating.
Custom sports guards for contact sports, bite guards for clenching and grinding, orthodontic retainers, anti-snoring devices and tooth whitening.
Fees
You should be able to see what dentistry costs before you pick up the phone. This is the practice's full price list.
Prices as published by the practice in September 2026. Payment by Visa, Mastercard or cash. Treatment is planned and quoted before it starts, so you know the cost of your own course of treatment rather than a range.
